Barbara Looby

Barbara was born in Melbourne, now lives at Port Flinders just north of Port Pirie, and is a founding member of Germein Art Focus.

She is an award-winning artist whose figurative and abstract paintings in water colour, gouache and acrylics, celebrate her love of colour and drawing and her emotional response to her varied subject matter – “important to me is how I experience what I see”.

Major inspiration for her has come from the design line and colour of Durer, Picasso and Klee.

Barbara has undertaken a number of courses including with Robert Hannaford and at Adelaide Central School of Art all of which she attributes a great leap forward in her development as an artist. She considers her membership of GAf as an ongoing source of inspiration giving impetus to her commitment to her work
